Perini Navi is the result of years of intuition creativity and perseverance. And this, of course, is the signature of its founder, Fabio Perini.

Born into the paper industry, Mr. Perini patented and successfully marketed his first invention at the age of 17: an automated system for paper machines. Other innovations followed, with major breakthroughs in the handling and converting of tissue, and the establishment of a multinational manufacturing corporation, which was sold at the end of the Eighties to the German group Koerber.

Meanwhile, Fabio Perini was cultivating his passion, and his vision, for large, blue water sailing yachts. Back then, the concept of large sail powered vessels was inextricably linked to heavy crews, complicated rigs, and decks and cockpits which were anything but passenger friendly.

Mr. Perini therefore decided, in 1980, to set up a company of his own, with the aim of designing and building a sailing yacht which not only could be sailed single handedly, but would also provide safe, comfortable spaces for owners and guests. After three years of design and engineering, in 1983 Perini Navi was set up to build its own yachts. In total defiance of established conventions, the first Perini Navis hit the water, and a whole new concept of ship building was born. Such was the strength of the innovation that at the very beginning Perini Navi did not find it easy to cater to an audience that wasn’t yet ready for such a novel approach.
